St. Johns, Newfoundland

I recently traveled to St. Johns, Newfoundland for work. It was so nice to have a change of scenery! I loved being on an island surrounded by waters abundant with fresh fish and seafood. It was nice to see relief in topography, such a change from flat as a pancake Houston! St. Johns, I learned, is the most eastern city in North America. I got to see the most eastern tip of the island on a cold, cold day. It was in the low 50's with winds of 30mph and more. Brrrr! Enjoy my pictures taken with my cell phone! Hopefully when I head back there in two sleeps, I'll own a better camera to take.My boss and I drove up to the Lookout on the one sunny day we had there. St. Johns!
The most eastern point in North America
St Johns is hilly, so there are a lot of stairs downtown. I think these stairs are next to the courthouse.
The courthouse.

Seafood Pasta

Tye treated us to a lovely dinner after the bottling of Batch #3 finished. The dish had clams, scallops, and shrimp...I think...It was yummy!

Bottling Batch #3

The boys were at it again this past Sunday with the homebrew. This time they bottled the Ginger Pale Ale. James and Tye cleaning the bottles.
All the bottles need to be dried. Otis' baby gate comes in handy for all the bottles.
Testing the taste of the beer before bottling.
Bottles of Batch #3! Timmy capped them all.

Otis' den

A lot of nights, Otis gets his little puppy butt under the coffee table for a nice nap. We like to think he pretends under the coffee table is his den...his own space.

Breakfast by James

It was almost too pretty to eat.

Batches #2 and #3

I was just reading over some older posts we did, and realized I never updated this for Batch #2 of homebrew! The boys did Real Ale Brewhouse Brown. It's a Texan beer, and we enjoy it when we buy it from the store. So the the boys made it and it tasted a little better than Batch #1, but still needed something. Filtered water perhaps! So Batch #3 was lovingly made with filtered water. Batch #3 is a ginger pale ale. It was bottled this past weekend and should be ready for consumption in 3 weeks. I'm excited.

Nespresso

At work, all the Spaniards, Italians, and Argentines drink espresso. It smells so good. They drink Nespresso brand espresso and make it with a Nespresso espresso machine. James and I get treated to it during the time we spend with my co-workers, and we love the coffee! So we splurged on the machine and now enjoy nice espresso at home. I definitely had a dream where I was drinking espresso every chance I got and was even trying to hide how many times I was drinking it. Eventually I got caught and felt so ashamed! I try to keep it to one coffee a day, so I don't end up like I did in my dream. And FYI, James got up to make himself and espresso while I composed this post. Smells so good!THE machine.
My brew next to my mukluk salt & pepper shakers from Paulette.

waffles

I usually make the waffles or pancakes on the weekends, but this past one James made me some waffles. They were delightful! My favorite is with strawberries and whip cream. Yum yum.

Peonies

I love how peonies bring a burst of color to my coffee table. And I love waiting for each bud to bloom into a huge flower. I love peonies!

I will eat your food

We watched our friends' dogs this past weekend for one night. Notice Otis' concentration on the bowl behind the gate! Floyd, the yellow dog, wouldn't eat his breakfast for hours no matter how hard we tried to get him to eat. Otis sat in front of the gate waiting for his chance to eat Floyd's food. Finally, we switched Floyd's food brand for Otis' and Floyd scarfed down the food! It was so funny. Otis never got to eat Floyd's food. :)

I love peanut buttahs

Every time we cut Otis' nails we give him peanut buttahs so he won't freak out. We were at the end of the jar this past time, so we gave him the jar afterwards. He really loves peanut buttahs.
