I'm Going to Carolina In My Mind

I had a wonderful morning before heading to work today. Somehow I came down to the kitchen before 7:45, and had enough time to make myself an espresso and do my makeup. It was really quiet in the house while the stovetop espresso maker did it's thing. So I heard it heat up and start to boil. Then the sweet sounds of percolation. Then I poured my espresso into my lone espresso cup, got my sugar bowl, and dumped in two baby scoops of sugar. The espresso crackles when you drop the sugar in! Or makes a sound like static electricity. Either way I love it. Then I got to stir the sugar and drink my espresso and sit with a catalog while I sipped my espresso before taking Otis out. Nice morning. Don't you love the simple things in the morning that make the day start off right?

Fresh Basil

James made us some wonderful appetizers last weekend. Bread, mozzarella, grape tomatoes, and fresh basil. I especially liked how he cut the basil. I love this combination of food. Definitely one of my favorite things. It's even better when you add some smoked salmon in. I love fresh basil!

A Curious Bird

We came home one night from a Penn State Alumni event, and there was a great blue heron in our neighborhood! So naturally I stalked it and tried to photograph it. The pic is crappy, but my experience of seeing it walk through the dimly lit driveways and stop at each air conditioning unit was pretty cool. This bird was huge when it finally flew away!

Easter Dinner

My mom helped James make meatballs for Easter dinner. James said it gets done faster when he has help. Maybe I better help next time. :) Of course the meatballs were delicious!

Mom was here

My mom came to visit for one week. Only one week. I hope she stays longer next time! She flew in, and we got wonderful mani/pedi's. The girls working on us were so excited to talk to Eskimos. :) One especially wanted to Eskimo Kiss her boyfriend in front of Eskimos. Then on Friday we drove to San Marcos for some outlet shopping. The next day we had lunch at The Gristmill in Gruene. Lovely restaurant in an old cotton mill on the hillside overlooking the Guadlupe River. Best pickles I ever ate were there! What a relaxing lunch.

We spent the rest of the weekend in San Antonio seeing the Riverwalk, Alamo, and San Jose Mission. San Jose Mission was our favorite by far. The Riverwalk was fun, too. It was a great trip. Plus on the drive we got to see some lovely Texas wildflowers. Of course we only took out the camera during our trip to San Jose MissionMom and the Mission
She was telling me a funny story from home.

Mom made bread! Mmmm

Celtics GAME!!!!!!!

We got some great seats to the Celtics vs Rockets game recently. Of course the Celtics won! I had so much fun watching the routines of each Celtic before, during, and after the game. Our seats were behind the goal, near the Celtics bench. I made eye contact with Glen Davis and wanted to giggle the whole time! I couldn't stop smiling the whole time.During the national anthem.
Kevin Garnett gets super serious after the anthem, before the C's are announced. He keeps his head down the whole time and puts his hand out to high five his teammates as they're announced.
Our view from our seats. YAY!
Paul Pierce and Nate Nate. Nate Nate was fun to watch off the court. He laughs the whole time and makes his teammates laugh by dancing and making jokes. Nate Nate! :)
