New Wheels

Last week James texted me that he bought me a present. Immediately I asked if it had wheels. The answer was no, so on the weekend we went out and bought me some wheels! An Electra Gigi Beach Cruiser. I can't wait to go ride around. And I can't wait for James to get some new wheels for his rollerblades, so we can go wheeling around together. Otis can come, too.

French Breakfast Puffs

I usually try to make one breakfast per weekend, but sometimes I'm too lazy. Instead of my usual sourdough pancakes, I tried French Breakfast Puffs from the Unalakleet cookbook. I'm not sure if my puffs were puffy enough, but they tasted pretty darn good. That's cinnamon and sugar on top the puffs...mmm...And now you can see the new plates my husband picked out!

Checking out MinuteMaid Park

We drove around downtown Houston and stopped to take pictures outside MinuteMaid Park, where the Houston Astros baseball team plays. This was just after the football game, and we all wore our Unalakleet, AK "UNK" t-shirts in case we made in on TV...or lost each other. Here's Merle and James outside the park.

Patriots Game

We went to the Patriots vs. Jets game while Merle was here. The first football game for Merle and James! It was my first indoor one. There were SOOOO many people there. But it was a lot of fun...except when the Pats lost.Merle and the field.
Can you believe all these people??

Cold day in Galveston

We took Merle to Galveston to have a lunch picnic on the beach. It was in the 50's and really, really windy, but we stayed anyway! For 30 minutes. :) James and I were so cold, we wrapped the towel we were supposed to sit on around us. While we were there, we got some new shells, saw a guy kite surfing (Merle said, "That guy is crazy!"), and tried to stay warm. Merle wanted to check out the Gulf's temperature so he waded in the water. He said the water was warmer than at home. To warm up and see more of Galveston, we went to Moody Gardens and checked out their aquarium. They had seals, fish, sharks, turtles, penguins, eels, and more. I liked the part where the aquarium surrounds you. Merle watching the fish.
Oooo, fish.

Hupppie New Yaaaiiiiirrrr!

My oldest brother, Merle, came to visit us for a week, and he was here for New Years. We had a nice dinner with our Houston pals and then sat around the fire for the countdown. James, Merle, and I just after midnight.
Timmy with his pretty headband. Happy New Year!

Christmas Day

Christmas was lovely...even though we weren't with family. We woke up, opened presents, had pancakes and bacon, and then relaxed before dinner. One of our pals gave us some ham, so that was our Christmas dinner. Then we played Wii cause James got new games, specifically Punchout and Super Mario Brothers. Good times.James grabbing gifts to open.
We watched Otis open a banana that was in his stocking. Sometimes we forget to put them away when we go to work, and we'll come home to find perfect banana peels on the floor. And we wonder how the heck he opens them! So we had to watch. He ended up eating the peel this time...maybe because it was really ripe. We'll have to use one that isn't so ripe next time!
We got dressed up for each other...

Christmas Eve

We finally put the presents under the tree on Christmas Eve. If we had put them out before, Otis surely would've gotten into them while we were away at work. Darn dog. To punish him, we made him a rein-dog.

Ugly Sweater Party 2009

We went to an Ugly Sweater holiday party before Christmas. Here's our lovely sweater choices. I went with the sweater vest, while James went for gold and bright colors.
